Intellectual Property Litigation
Ms. Ferrari litigates trademark, copyright and patent infringement actions in the
Federal courts and prosecutes and defends trademark cancellation and
opposition petitions before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S.
Patent and Trademark Office.
Her practice also includes dispute resolutions in the acquisition, protection
and disposal of intellectual property assets. She has advised clients, drafted
agreements, and negotiated settlements in areas involving licensing,
royalties, assignments, liens, the use of clients' marks in competitors'
advertising, and the seizure of counterfeit goods. She also has advised
clients on matters such as breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duties, and
covenants not to compete.
Previously Ms. Ferrari litigated a variety of complex
commercial and criminal matters in Federal and State trial and appellate
courts. She litigated issues arising under various federal statutes and rules,
including issues of personal jurisdiction, federal preemption, erroneous jury
instructions and venue. She also worked previously with the litigation group of a major television broadcasting company.
Before entering private practice, Ms. Ferrari worked in The Legal Aid
Society's Criminal Appeals Bureau, where she litigated numerous appeals
before the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York
and the New York Court of Appeals, the state's highest court.
Immediately after graduating from law school, Ms. Ferrari clerked for Hon.
Franklin S. Billings, Jr., then Chief Judge of the United States District Court
for the District of Vermont.
