    Lance Lieberman is a founding member of Cohen Pontani Lieberman & Pavane LLP. He has been practicing intellectual property law since 1976.

    Mr. Lieberman’s practice covers all areas of intellectual property law in the electrical, electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, optic, telecommunications, business methods, and computer hardware and software arts. He has extensive experience in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the United States and throughout much of the world and in the preparation of studies relating to the infringement, validity and enforceability of patents. He also counsels clients concerning the acquisition, protection, commercialization, enforcement, and transfer of inventions, technology, and trade secrets and technical know-how and in the preparation, negotiation, and interpretation of license agreements. Additionally, he guides clients in the conduct of due diligence investigations relating to transfers and acquisitions of intellectual property assets; and counsels and advises them in the protection and implementation of technologies and processes relating to Internet-based e-commerce. Although the primary emphasis of his practice is in the area of patents, Mr. Lieberman also represents and assists clients in securing, enforcing, licensing and transfer of trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. He has also represented clients in pretrial proceedings and in oral and written arguments before State and Federal courts and before Examiners and various tribunals of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and other U.S. government agencies.

    Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Lieberman was a Special Professor of Law at the Hofstra University School of Law. In addition, he assisted in curriculum development and taught for eight years in the Lawyers’ Assistants Program of Adelphi University. He has lectured for the New York State Bar Association, the Practicing Law Institute, the Licensing Executives Society, the New York Intellectual Property Law Association, and guest lectured in patents and trademarks at New York Law School.
